Uptime - 1 day
Well the problem with my linux computer was the video card, which has been unceremoniously dispatched and replaced, and I spent the afternoon installing Fedora.
Yeah, yeah, I KNOW that in every group of 10 linux geeks, you’ll get 10 different recommendations for different flavours of linux to install, but I have been running Redhat ever since I installed for the first time, and Fedora is just a progression of that. I’ll stick to what I know!
Also, made a rash purchase today, a Slushie maker. I hadn’t had a frozen coke in my life up until about 3 months ago and OMG, they rock! Now, I can make my own!
Lastly, (again, yanks, you can tune out now), we’re heading for a win in the final Ashes cricket test. That’s heading for 5-0 in the series. Makes an Aussie girl proud.

Glad to see you got it up and running though (I kept getting undeliverable messages in my inbox from damagedpeople.com… apparently, you have notification of new posts turned on).
Again… I know nothing about Cricket (the game, not the cellular phone company). From the pictures you posted, it’s a bunch of guys in cardigan sweaters who pose for the camera.

For me to explain the rules of cricket would make you want to poke a fork in your ear and push hard, so I’ll just leave you with a video of Shane Warne taking his 700th wicket (that’s getting a batter out) to view. The vid starts with the celebration of taking the wicket, the actual footage of the ball that did it is about third of the way in. Warnie was a “spin” bowler, who could bowl a ball straight, that would turn sometimes at 90 degrees after the bounce. 700 wickets is a BIG THING in cricket. Test matches run over 5 full days, and every day of the five test matches played during this series saw the grounds packed to capacity (that’s 90,000 people per day when the the Melbourne game was played). The footage below was at the Sydney Cricket Ground, with a capacity of around 50k. Needless to say, there wasn’t an empty seat in the house.

As for my email, Warren will be rooting around in my box this afternoon to lock the security down and install the firewall we were running with Redhat (he’s been on to the developer who has indeed updated so it will run with Fedora). The linux box is off right now, as we just don’t trust anything but that firewall to do the job.
oh, and one last thing. Regarding the cardigan sweaters… Don’t your footballers wear lycra tights??! ;)
