Didy

I’ve a pair of friends, Didy (pronounced Die-Dee) and Geoff (pronounced Geoff) who I’ve known for a really, REALLY long time.

They are the NICEST, most WONDERFUL people I know.

They are also fabulously musical people. When I met them, Geoff was part of a working rock band and could play about 5 instruments. Didy dabbled in the guitar and singing.

When a group of friends got together over at Didy and Geoff’s place, invariably a jam session would ensue, with all and sundry getting involved, no matter how crap your singing (or in my case, tambourine playing) skills were, and everyone having a FAB U LOUS time.

Didy and Geoff have a friend Al. Al is also a bit of a muso and a songwriter, but at that time, Al wasn’t in Geoff’s band. The outstanding thing about Al is that he’s a fireman. The real thing. With the uniform. With the boots and long hose. Oh, did I mention that firemen are my uniformed man of choice?

Geoff

Sadly, Al is married, so apart from lurid comments such as “Do you have a long hose?” and “Does he dress up in his uniform for you?” (to his wife, Kim, the lucky bitch) when I had a couple of cleansing beverages under my belt, I did behave myself.

Anyhow, I digress as usual.

Now, about me. I LOVE music. Well except for country and western, and this is where I slipped into a moral dilemma.

Al, Geoff and Didy formed a band, Wildseed. Problem is, Al’s music was of the “country” genre I was told, so naturally, I was a little aghast to say the least.

Fortunately, the genre they have adopted is not “country and western”, but “country rock” so, no songs about the wife, kids and dog leaving in the pick-up thank GOD. In fact, their stuff is GOOD! So good, that they are getting radio airplay and their new-fangled-get-down-honky-tonk video is going to be featured on “Rage”!

They’ve even got an album out, and a website. Now, if you wanna check out their vid “The Fire”, click here. It’s a whopping 20-or-so megs, so you people with dial-up (do people still DO dial-up? How quaint), need to get a decent Internet connection DAMNIT. Oh, and while you’re there, up your screen resolution from 800×600, cuz you’re the sort of people that will still be set at that, I’m sure.

Anyhow, I stole those images off their website, so…I expect trouble, or at least to be served up tofu next time I visit - which is a fate worse than DEATH, I tell you. Hopefully the shameless plugging will get me over the line!
