meh… back at work/ YAY! Go the Socceroos!

Well, I dragged my sorry carcass back to work today, though I have to say that the air-conditioned environment was not a good thing for me. I battled through regardless, cuz I’m a trooper!
Now, allow me to jump on the bandwagon with every other Aussie sports-following tragic.
The FABULOUS Socceroos have made their first move towards winning the World Cup last night by beating Japan.
Our next victims will be Brazil, then Croatia. THEN THE WORLD!
Okay, you might think it’s a bit of a stretch to flog Brazil and Croatia, but I’m delusional an optimist!

Soccer (or football as a lot of the world calls it) isn’t a big thing here in the USA.
It is played here, but primarily by school girls.
They’ve tried to establish it (our city had a team for a short period), but it just doesn’t catch on.
Australian rules Football, on the other hand…. now that’s something from down under that I can watch! As far as I can tell… “Australian Rules” translates roughly as “there’s no damn rules, we just want to hurt people”. Every time I’ve seen it on TV, it’s usually dominated by middle aged men who are tough as hell, running back and forth, planting cleats in the face of anyone unlucky enough to fall down, and then doing something with a ball in between bouts of ultra-violence.
Wildly entertaining!

Chris: Thanks!
Tone: I too am a fan of Aussie Rules. My reason for watching is different from yours though and it can be summed up in just two words: tight shorts
