I’m very pleased to say that “go-live” for the IT project I’ve been working on went pretty well. There’s been no major dramas to speak of, the Help Desk haven’t been rushing around inundated by calls, the people we’ve strategically placed on each floor to help end-users were barely bothered, and my mobile phone only rang a couple of times today.

This means (so far) that the system builders did a great job, and we in change management and training did too (but in making these statements there’s a lot of “touch wood” going on!) Many of us have worked on a few of these projects before, so I suppose if we hadn’t learned SOMETHING by now on how to do it right, we never will.

Now comes the time that the project team needs to officially “hand-over” all of our stuff to “the business” for ongoing maintenance. I’ve found in past projects that this is the bloody hardest part! We’ll get it done though, or die trying! Hoping to get a few weeks off at the end, during which time I’ll ditch all the content on my other website (since it is doing nothing except collecting cobwebs), ditch Mambo, install Wordpress and perhaps turn it into a serious HR and HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) blog, where I’ll post some of my experiences and lessons learned in implementing large HRIS systems from a Change Management perspective. Wow, a real grown up blog, who would have guessed?! :wink_wp:
