Personally i would stick with Wordpress, simply because even if you find Mambo initially easier to use, you will end up with Wordpress eventually for the superior features it offers.

Those are the 2 main points I agree with, wordpress is for more a blog type of site, and mambo/joombla is for something more 'exotic' like a gaming group/information type site with sections & all.

But I also agree Joomla isn't as easy to muck around templates nore is the support forum very user helpful for the most part.

(and yes, this is my first site larger that a Frontpage static page website.) :)

P.S. I have seen a joomla addon that puts wordpress inside joomla, so if thats your thing :) and IE really blows!!

I'm running two websites in WordPress - http://karmacarpentry.com and http://insn.org -- the latter gets a lot of traffic and it's beein running well for over a year.

Now I'm using Joomla to create another site, and I'm finding it a pain in the arse to modify the templates. I finally got the hang of WordPress themes. I think they have much greater flexibility. In Joomla (or is it Mambo ?!) most of the functionality is in these mysterious functions. Sure, it's handy but it's also inflexible. And the Joomla forums seem to have tons of unanswered simple questions from users trying to do the same things I'd like to do. WordPress wins on the support and flexibility. But Joomla has some other benefits, like built-in menu and section functionality, and some other things.

Well... when will the best of both worlds be in one package?
